Giant clam shell "Hippopus hippopus"

Tridacna is a genus of large saltwater clams, marine bivalve molluscs in the subfamily Tridacninae, the giant clams. A gorgeous old sample of a Horse Hoof (Hippopus hippopus) clam shell. This gorgeous shell comes from Finnish private collection. Good condition. Minor age-related wear, chip, dirt and dust. A small area from the bottom is sanded to keep the shell in upright position. Size approx. 23,5cm x 16,5cm x 7,2cm. Weight c. 829g.
