Reed pen holder ”Qalamdan Divit”

This gorgeous brass traveling quill or reed pen holder (Divit) with attached inkwell (Qalamdan) are from Ottoman Empire. These pen cases was used by official calligraphers, who would travel for business. This piece probably would have been tucked into hang around a belt. Handmade with beautiful deep engraved symbols and decorations. Pen case and seashell inkwell both has hinged lids.
Inkwell and holder are heavy and solid. Age-related wear and traces of poured ink. Great patina. Later copper hinges on inkwell. Minor defects. Case lid bit crooked. Dust and dirt. Size approx. 21cm x 3cm (pen case) and 4cm x 3cm (inkwell).
