A cockle is an edible, marine bivalve mollusc. Although many small edible bivalves are loosely called cockles, true cockles are species in the family Cardiidae. Fascinating collection include species such as Acanthocardia aculeata, Acanthocardia tuberculata, Cerastoderma edule, Cerastoderma glaucum, Laevicardium crassum etc. Beautiful set of 102 unique shells from Finnish private collection. Good condition. Age-related wear, dirt and dust. Size of the cardboard box 14,5cm x 14,5cm x 7,0cm. Size of individual shells varies from 1,0cm to 6,5cm. Total weight c. 780g.
