This gorgeous brass traveling quill or reed pen holder (Divit) with attached inkwell (Qalamdan) are from Ottoman Empire. These pen cases was used by official calligraphers, who would travel for business. This piece probably would have been tucked into hang around a belt. Handmade with beautiful deep engraved symbols and decorations. Pen case and inkwell both has hinged lids.

Inkwell and holder are heavy and solid. Age-related wear and traces of use over many years. Minor defects, dust and dirt. Size approx. 27cm x 3cm (pen case) and 5cm x 4cm (inkwell).
